So occasionally I get to venture outside of sunny Newcastle to go and shoot weddings around the UK. When Heidi and Keon asked me to shoot their wedding at the Maverick Projects Asylum Chapel in Peckham I literally jumped at the chance. This amazing venue has been on my ‘To Shoot’ list for like ever. So off I went, cameras packed, practicing my telephone voice so the Southerners had a slight chance of understanding me (epic fail!)
The day started with bridal prep and the couple’s home where Heidi and her close group of girls pals were getting suitable pampered. The sun was streaming in through the back doors the whole time. They really couldn’t have picked a more perfect day.
We then headed onto Asylum where Keon and the other guests were waiting. Keon and his groomsmen in the most amazing suits from Hackett London.
The ceremony went off with only the slightest hitch when the bridesmaid’s reading temporarily went missing only for it to be found in a slightly embarrassed groom’s pocket! Their friends and family got involved throughout even singing along to the Gospel Choir’s version of ‘For Once in my Life’.
We then caught a big red bus to Trinity Buoy Wharf where there was speeches, THE most amazing Mediterranean food from Tasting Plates, drinks and dancing. The evening’s entertainment was from The Supers who kept everyone on their feet all night.
Shooting a venue I’d always dreamed of always had the potential to disappoint but this could not have been further from the truth with Heidi and Keon’s big day. I never stopped laughing and smiling from start to finish. x x
