When I got asked to shoot Laura and Nikki’s Woodhill Hall wedding I jumped at the chance. I shoot a lot of weddings in and around Northumberland and Woodhill Hall has been on my wedding bucket list for as long as I can remember. Couple that with my first consultation with Laura turning into a 90minute girly chat about absolutely everything, I knew it was a match made in heaven!
I arrived early and caught the remnants of what looked to be a lively night before with friends. That’s one of the joys of having a Woodhill Hall wedding. You can have exclusive use of the venue for the night before as well as after the wedding and there’s plenty of accommodation for friends and family to join you. Needless to say the boys started the day on clean up duty while the girls were enjoying some pampering.
Laura’s gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown fit her like a glove and Nikki (and everyone else in the room) welled up when he first saw her. The gorgeous ceremony room at Woodhill is surrounded by windows so light pours in from all angles letting me see all the emotion on the faces of their friends and family. The only person holding it together was Laura and Nikki’s little daughter Heidi who did her best to steal the show in her own adorable gown.
Thankfully, the weather held out letting us get a few group shots on the steps leading up to the main hall then onto some couple shots in the surrounding grounds. In the middle of trees with lovely autumnal colours we weren’t going to struggle for backdrops. The couple shoot is such a great opportunity for the bride and groom to step away from the wedding madness and have some time together.
After the couple shots were complete it was back to the party. These 2 obviously have an amazing group of people around them which was made evident in the speeches. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a best man choke up quite as much (sorry Timmins) but he did manage to laugh at himself. The whole day you could just see how happy this brilliant couple were and how perfect they are for each other.
